SUIT YOURSELF present THE EXCLUSIVE JOHN SIMONS BRIGHTON VIEWING AND Q&A.
Part 1 of our fantastic weekend in Brighton done, it was back to the Hope and Ruin to clear up from the sell out BIG BOSS MAN gig and set up the second of our sell out shows for the weekend, our exclusive showing of John Simon's A Modernist. Now we thought we were lucky enough to be able to say we were the first people to premier the film outside London in Bristol as part of our Bristol Modernist weekend and we considered ourselves to be even luckier to have a second bite of the cherry when the films producer Mark 'Bax' Baxter agreed to sit in on a Q&A session as part of this weekend in Brighton but can you imagine the panic after Mark casually mentions that John himself will be joining us along with his son Paul!!
Now, I don't care how many times you've thought how good you look in the mirror being told you are going to be in the presence of an Iconic person as John Simons does freak you out slightly but thankfully the weather was on our side so rather than sweating in a tailored piece it meant T-shirts were good to go...
The doors were due to open at 1pm on the Saturday and as with all promoter fun and games we were still putting the final touches together just before the doors opened, it's difficult turning a legendary live music venue into a cinema don't you know.
The seats started to fill and John, Mark Baxter and Paul Simons took to the front of the auditorium, with the sell out crowd quickly in place it was time to "Roll Em"...
The Film soon passed with everyone clapping and cheering at the end, John, Mark and Paul then took to the stage where the crowd asked a series of interesting questions connecting the shop with the Modernist scene over the years and even though John may have retired his son Paul has his own forward thinking ideas for the brand.
After questions, John and Paul were presented an amazing portrait which I'm sure will adorn the walls of the shop in the future.
A quick dispersal of the crowd into the bar downstairs and John, Mark and Paul happily chatted to John Simons fans and even signed DVDs that we had on sale.
Lots of photos later and it was off back to London for our truly unique guests whilst Alan, Colin, Lee and Dave once again keeping the afternoon party going.
All in all an incredible weekend by the seaside.
Copies of John Simons - A Modernist are still available to by from this site but are becoming limited.
