In the reviews you will find links to buy or read more about the music that we are reviewing - If you have any suggestions for the page or would like and album/single reviewed please get in touch.

LITTLE BARRIE - DEATH EXPRESS

At Suit Yourself it is rare to receive an album that you just can't put down.! This is a masterpiece, plain and simple. 20 tracks of Maximum Garage RnB meets Science Fiction Rock & Roll. We are still picking our jaws up of the floor. Little Barrie, made up of Barrie Cadogan, Lewis Wharton and Virgil Howe  haven't just hit the nail on the head, they've smashed it through the other side of the wall. The Album was recorded and produced by Little Barrie, who stripped back the studio sound to be pure and raw; how so much noice comes out of a Three Piece will remain a mystery. Having worked with Primal Scream, Paul Weller and others, they also wrote and play the theme tune to Cult TV show, Better Call Saul, which the Album has the full version on.

This is, quite simply, brilliant. A must-purchase. We can't wait to see these songs brought to life on stage. Rating: 5/5 (Leigh Sanders - Express and Star) >>>> Get Death Express HERE

MODSTOCK - THE NEW UNTOUCHABLES

Rob Bailey, DJ and compiler of MODSTOCK wanted to put together an album full of mod club anthems but as he dug deeper he soon realised this had all been done before and decided to opt for a different angle and has truly done with style. With a variety of different artists that span different decades he has managed to bring together all the elements of modern modernist culture. Mixing tracks from Gentleman June Gardner, Brenda Holloway, The Mergers, The Aquamen, Frank Butler and Quartet tres Bien through to tunes from Secret affair and Stone Foundation and more the album crosses all Genres,   R & B, Soul, Beat, Jazz and floor filler party stompers. It makes for a great soundtrack, perfect for pre or even post club action.

MODSTOCK is available on the NEW UNTOUCHABLES web site along with a selection of other great releases.

SOHO SCENE '62 - JAZZ GOES MOD

SOHO SCENE '62 is a great insight into the world of the early jazz that influenced the Mod scene in London in the late 50's, early 60's. Imagine, coffee shops, smokey Jazz nightclubs, Tailors and zipping around London's streets on an early Vespa or Lambretta and you get the idea. This double CD delves into the cool side of jazz instrumentals, some laid back but for the most, upbeat and intricate in style, artists like Tubby Hayes Quintet, Ronnie Ross, Larry Frazier, Chico Hamilton and Ronnie Scott all add to the mouthwatering flavour of this recipe of coolness and Author Paul Anderson takes us on a journey through this world in well written sleeve notes - This is definitely one for the Jazz purists as well as the cool collective.

SOHO SCENE '62 is available through AMAZON now.

CROCODILE RECORDS - MANCHESTER

Crocodile Records is an independent record label based in Manchester, who only release vinyl 45's, a few of which were sent to Suit Yourself for inspection. Crocodile have 9 releases under their belts, with CROC010 on the horizon. Bought to you by the record mad Russell Taylor who has worked Record Fairs all over the UK and Europe, and then decided to press his own 45's, so Crocodile Records was born. The focus is on active bands that are out there playing Mod, Garage, RnB and anything with that Sixties or Seventies Sound. We were sent a 45 by the brilliant Phrogs, Baby I'm Gone (CROC004), described by Rob at the New Untouchables as "6'ts Mod, RnB Garage at 1000 miles an hour" pretty well sums it up! Check the link below and judge for yourself. We also have The Ace, a band from Leeds banging out Sixties Garage & Freakbeat, with a proper full on sound, harmonica et all. Crocodile Records certainly have a a good ear.

We look forward to number 10.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUDiYdZ9kM8
